In 1998, Kristi Anderson survived a random violent crime when a serial attacker hid inside her apartment and brutally attacked her after she returned from walking her dog. Surviving that night began a lifelong journey of rebuilding, understanding trauma, and learning how people can reduce risk without living in fear.
Kristi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and has spent more than 25 years studying personal safety and crime prevention, human behavior, criminal behavior and patterns, property security, post-traumatic stress, and the long-term realities survivors face after violent crime. Her professional experience spans sports management, senior healthcare sales, and property management, providing a broad perspective on leadership, communication, risk reduction, and protecting people in a variety of environments. She also gained extensive firsthand exposure to the criminal justice system through longstanding personal relationships within the District Attorney's Office, including those assigned to homicide cases. This provided valuable insight into criminal investigations, prosecutions, trials, and the judicial system.
In Kristi's case, the attacker was initially sentenced to two life terms for attempted first-degree murder and burglary. He also received additional sentences for crimes committed against two other victims. Those convictions were later overturned on appeal, and he accepted a plea agreement for 30 years. He was released in 2024 after serving 26 years in prison and remains under conditional release supervision until early 2029. At that time, he will be free.
